Remember the dreams, hopes and aspirations of youth, where have they gone?
There should be no question in anyone’s mind about the power of the internet. It is probably why you are reading this now. The power of the internet represents the greatest revolution in the history of knowledge and exchange of information.
There is another dark power out there that has negative application---dissatisfaction with one’s employment, unhappiness over one’s position in life. Again, possibly another reason why you are reading this now.
Well documented statistics show that most people work for a living, employed in circumstances not in their best interest and most are unhappy in their work---for various reasons, income being just one, but restricted freedom and loss of control over their destiny ranks right along side the income irritant.
Along with the loss of self esteem at being trapped in such circumstances comes the equally bitter realization by most that they cannot escape, either out of lack of knowledge or the apathetic prison of procrastination. A person so disillusioned with life will eventually accept the status quo.
Remember the dreams, hopes and aspirations of youth, where have they gone? America has changed. The security of a job no longer means anything. Companies have been downsizing for years, discreetly getting rid of older, more experienced (and more costly) workers in favor of younger workers who will more readily accept the shortcomings of meaningless employment. Each year in America, over one million, middle to upper level management people are forced out of the system.
Where do they go?
Small business is the backbone of our great country, but how many more Subways, Starbucks, Jani-Kings can we withstand? And --- do you really want to “own your own” business making baloney sandwiches for the rest of your life? Look at the turn-over and failure rate of small business---over 90% fail.
Look at the glut of “copy cat” businesses on any street in any town U.S.A. Look at the mushrooming appearance of mall after mall offering more of the same inside. The failure rate of non-anchor stores in malls is higher than their brick and mortar cousins on the open streets.
Yet people gleefully, sometimes almost with reckless abandon, mortgage what assets they have built up over the years during their employment imprisonment with the naive belief that somehow they will escape the high, devastating failure rate that awaits them. True, some of these owners may have escaped the dead end of employment, but many that do survive are barely keeping up with employment wages--- and--- they have the headache of ownership.
Ownership is meaningful
ONLY if it allows you to rise above a mediocre income
and lifestyle.
